Tulsi or Holy Basil is a sacred herb in Hinduism and used widely in Ayurvedic medicine for its benefits on the mind and body.
Tulsi is an adaptogen herb, which means it helps your body adapt to or resist stress, be it physical, mental or emotional in nature. It helps boost the immune system and is great for treating coughs, colds and mucous conditions. Tulsi leaves are high in essential oils, such as eugenol, nerol, camphor, terpenes and flavonoids. The oil is a strong antiseptic against many kinds of disease causing organisms, including bacteria, fungi, and parasites.
Tulsi is also anti-inflammatory, an anti-oxidant and supports the liver, blood sugar levels and protects from radiation.
